12/10/08 MIT Breakthrough with Power Storage
Researchers at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) have been working on a project which they believe could revolutionise the use of solar power. They have developed an improved and more efficient method of using electricity to split water into it's constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen.
The researchers believe that within 10 years it will become feasible to use excess solar power when the sun is shining to produce hydrogen in this way. The hydrogen can then be stored and used in a hydrogen fuel cell to produce electricity when required.
