Founded in 2005 with input from Illinois University, Semprius develops concentrating photovoltaics for large scale installations, setting a record for photovoltaic module efficiency in 2012, reaching 33.9 percent.
Semprius opened it's first production facility in 2012.
The company claim low cost and high efficiency using gallium arsenide-based, multi-junction solar cells which only cover 0.1% of the panel area, each cell measuring approximately 0.36mm sq.
