Hanwha SolarOne was established in 2004 by the Linyang Group (founded in 1997) ans started production commercial photovoltaic solar cell production the following year. As a result of expansion and acquisitions, module produclion capacity was close to 1Gw in 2010.
The company is virtically integrated, producing silicon ingots and cells, and now has offices across Asia, Europe, north and South America, South Africa, and Dubai.
