Avancis - based in Germany
Avancis, one of the pioneers of Copper-Indium-Selenium thin film photovoltaic technology, is based in Torgau, Saxony, with a research and development facility at Munich.
The company was formed in 2006 as a joint venture between Shell and the French multinational building baterials group, Saint-Gobain, with the latter taking over Shell's share of the business in 2009.
A new production facility which came online at the end of 2011 increased the company's capacity to 120Mw.
In 2011, Avancis achieved a record efficiency for a thin film module of 15.8%.
Certification includes IEC, UL, MCS.
