02/12/17 Worlds Largest Lithium-ion Battery Completed in Australia

The worlds largest lithium-ion rechargeable battery to date, rated at 129Mwhrs has been built in Australia by Testla at a cost of 50 million dollars. The project made the news headlines recently when Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Tesla, bet that the battery could be built in 100 days, or there would be no charge. He appears to have won his bet.

The battery has been built in an area that has suffered a number of power cuts recently and will be connected to a wind farm, improving the continuity of supply. When fully charged, the battery is expected to be capable of powering upto 30,000 homes for one hour.
